Open Studio Session and Public Meeting #3

At the second public meeting, a preferred conceptual master plan was selected by the public. Over the next two days, the planning and design team held a series of open studio sessions at the Yacht Club where the public was invited to help refine the conceptual plan. Over 50 participants including fishermen, business owners, UAS representatives, Port staff, and harbor users provided input on detailing the preferred plan. During the studio sessions Corvus Design, NorthWind Architects, and PND Engineers developed a detailed master plan that was presented at the January 19 public meeting. A summary of the information developed during the open studio sessions and public meeting #3 can be found below.

Draft Alternative Conceptual Plans

The Corvus Design waterfront planning team developed a site plan that identified potential areas for fill and expansion and three alternative conceptual plans based on what we heard at the public meeting, CBJ Docks and Harbors Board, the inventory, and responses from the Juneau maritime economy report. These three plans are draft conceptual plans that look at a broad-brush range of master planning options for the waterfront/harbors area. These plans were presented as a project update to the CBJ Docks and Harbors Board Regular Meeting on November 17 as a progress check in. The Board reviewed the plans and gave the team notification to take these to the public at a public presentation in January and subsequent Board approval upon refinement of the plans. The fill plan and three alternative conceptual plans are below. The second public meeting will be announced shortly and is planned for mid January 2017.
